Is special equipment needed to use SSC products? No special equipment is required and you don’t need to eliminate your current software packages. This is true for ClaimRemedy, Shape LinxTM and the Personal Health Record. The use of the SHAPE CardTM does require the inexpensive Precise 250MC card reader to read the card and trigger the events that you have designated to occur upon verification of an individual’s identity. The Precise 250MC is USB enabled for ease of installation. Our products “wrap-around” your existing systems saving you hundreds or even thousands of dollars by eliminating the need for expensive hardware and infrastructure modifications. In most cases you can be up and running in less than an hour.
What Is HIPAA? The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 includes a number of protections for Americans who move from one job to another, are self-employed, or who have pre-existing medical conditions. It also set standards for the electronic exchange of health care data, requires the use of national identification systems for health care patients, providers, payers (or plans), and employers (or sponsors), and specifies the types of measures required to protect the security and privacy of personally identifiable health care information.
What is Identity Management? How are you managing my identity? Identity Management is the process of positively establishing a person’s identity and role. SSC does not manage your identity, but provides you with the tools to fully manage your own identity.
What is meant by Role Based Authorization? Role Based Authorization provides access to information based on a person’s position or responsibility. For instance, a doctor, a nurse, a lab tech, and an insurance examiner may need access to different sets of information because of their different roles.
What is meant by the “Three Pillars"? There are three recognized components (“pillars”) of trusted communication.
1. IDENTIFICATION: Determining that a person really is who they say they are.
2. AUTHENTICATION: Determining that historical documents and other records presented are accurate and represent that particular person, and that the communication is valid.
3. AUTHORIZATION: Determining, based on the recipient’s role, what information may be viewed, and what may be done with it.
How serious is identity fraud? Identity theft occurs when your name, Social Security number, credit card number or some other piece of your personal information is used by someone else. The FBI reports that identity theft is now the fastest-growing white-collar crime in the United States. The Social Security Administration reports that four out of five calls to it its fraud hotline involve identity theft. Personal information that can be used for fraud include your Social Security number, ATM card numbers, credit card numbers, bank check numbers, and any other pieces of your personal information. You frequently share this personal information when you conduct electronic commercial transactions.
With so much identity theft around us, how secure is secure? Secure Services Corp. uses "match-on-card" fingerprint technology to authenticate your identity. There is no communication of your fingerprint beyond the communication between the fingerprint scanner, your card and your finger. Therefore, the identity authentication process is extremely secure.
How can I be guaranteed that my information won't be sold or stolen in some way? While your card containing your biometric identifier (fingerprint) may be lost or stolen, it is useless without your finger being present at the same time as the card to authenticate your identity. Also, your information is not stored on the card, and cannot be accessed without your fingerprint. You and only you can authorize access to your information.
How does this information on my own records connect with all that data that the government is collecting? Is SSC connected with the Federal Government in any way?
Your information is not part of any government database. It can only be accessed after authentication of your identity by your fingerprint. Authorization to use or view your information is granted only by you. Secure Services Corp. is not connected to the Federal Government in any way.
Do you charge me as the customer or my insurance agent or my doctor for SSC’s SHAPE Card?
